Known as "the city of bridges" or "the Cuban Venice",
Matanzas treasures varied and picturesque bridges, but that of Bacunayagua,
located in the way between Havana and Matanzas, is among the most
outstanding. From this bridge one can enjoy a beautiful panoramic
view of the harmonious and quiet Yumurí valley.
A great tourist attraction are the caves of Bellamar, where crystal
formations show curiously shaped stalagmites and stalactites.
National and foreign visitors prefer to visit Matanzas not only
for its charms, but to visit the beach of Varadero, which crystal
clear waters, allowing to see the fine sands of the bottom, seduce
the vacationers and invite them to visit it again. As a complement
for the enjoyment of the beach, Varadero offers the service of luxury
hotels, recreation centers as well as ideal conditions for boat
docking, yacht and sailboat excursions, and more. Varadero has,
undoubtedly, a powerful infrastructure that satisfies and goes beyond
the expectations of the most demanding.
Matanzas also treasures a varied fauna that can be appreciated in
the Gran Parque Natural Montemar in the Zapata peninsula. There
one can find quite preserved ecosystems and a series of woods and
mongrove tree communities assembling in a colorful and harmonious
whole.
